Position Summary: 

Responsible for visiting patients and assisting them with menu selections in compliance with diet prescription, selecting nourishments, ability to operate computer software programs appropriate to medical center and department needs.  General clerical responsibilities including filing, keeping records of forms, menus and other office supplies used in clinical area.  Effective communication skills oral and written required.  Maintain high level of customer service at all times.

Job Summary: 

.05 FTE Instructor/Lecturer contract renewable, 12-month appointment.  Undergraduate teaching and advising.  Service to program, school, college, university, and profession.  

 Minimum Qualifications: 

This position requires a Doctoral Degree (for Instructor level) in foods, nutrition, dietetics, or closely related field OR, a master’s degree (for Lecturer level) in foods, nutrition, dietetics or closely related field with 2 years of related experience not including a dietetic internship.  Additional requirements include: Dietetic Registration and evidence of teaching experience (faculty or TA) at a college/university level or experience providing in-service education to physicians/other health care providers.

Preferred Qualifications: 

The successful candidate will have expertise in medical nutrition therapy, nutrition assessment, food service, food science, cultural foods or nutrition education.  Experience with online teaching and programs; practical experience in an area of foods and/or nutrition; experience in program management and administration; experience with ACEND accredited programs; willingness to advise students; evidence of activity in professional organizations and membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is preferred.  Experience with collaborative/outreach campus and community partnerships is desirable.  

Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Benefits available include health, life, and dental insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs.  Dependents and spouses of UNC employees whom are employed as 0.5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants.  These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges.   Further requirements may exist.   • 8 years of experience in a Regulatory Compliance (food labeling) role with a CPG food manufacturer; experience in food labeling for nutrition-focused products (cereals, bars, shakes, meals) and/or supplements 
  • Demonstrated proficiency to interpret U.S. food regulations and strong ability to navigate international labeling regulations
